Overview
The ERISA & Employee Benefits Practice Group provides counsel to plan sponsors, fiduciaries, service providers and small and mid-sized businesses on all aspects of ERISA and employee benefits matters, specifically the design, development and implementation of various retirement and welfare benefit plans and other employee benefits matters under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Internal Revenue Code and the Department of Labor. These qualified retirement plans include cross-tested profit sharing plans, cash balance pension plans, employee stock ownership plans and 401(k) plans.
Attorneys in this group work in collaboration with the firm’s tax, estate planning and probate, labor and employment, and business attorneys to ensure that clients are in compliance with the various laws that govern employee benefit and individual retirement plans. They provide counsel on ERISA issues involving corporate acquisitions or loan transactions, and estate planning and probate matters that involve retirement plan terminations, breach of fiduciary responsibilities, and advice regarding IRAs.
