Jennifer L. Whitt
Partner

Jennifer brings more than two decades of experience to Weston Hurd’s Labor and Employment Group. Her practice focuses on workers’ compensation and occupational safety and health, defending both state-funded and self-insured employers before the Ohio Industrial Commission and in Ohio’s courts. Jennifer’s practice also includes litigation and tort actions representing large and small clients. She has represented clients in the health care, manufacturing, hospitality, construction, trucking and automotive industries as well as school districts and municipalities throughout all phases of the administrative process and all court levels.

Representative Matters

WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
-Counsels clients on day-to-day workers’ compensation matters including the implementation of safety policies and programs and return-to-work issues.
-Representation of clients throughout all phases of workers’ compensation administrative hearings including complex allowances, permanent total disability, loss of use and death claims.
-Successful defense and resolution of VSSR claims.
-Represented clients before the Full Commission and in mandamus proceedings. Represents employers against independent contractors seeking status as employees. Represents clients as to non-compliance status bringing employers into compliance.
-Performs due diligence for mergers and acquisitions as to workers’ compensation matters.

OSHA
-Investigated and attended on-site inspections and defended clients against VSSR and OSHA filings. Counseled clients as to OSHA reporting and recording practices.
-Representation of clients through all phases of OSHA litigation.

LITIGATION
-Lead attorney in the representation of clients in workers’ compensation court appeals for state-funded and self-insured employers.
-Defense of clients in intentional tort court cases.
-Representation of clients in mandamus actions stemming from workers’ compensation issues.
