Stephanie Hand-Cannane is a partner in Weston Hurd’s Commercial Litigation Group and brings nine years of experience managing hundreds of complex transaction and litigation matters to the firm. Stephanie represents individuals and corporations in all aspects of civil litigation and commercial transactions. With clients ranging from small limited liability companies to large multistate corporations, Stephanie provides guidance on complex matters such as commercial liability, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, commercial contract negotiations, strategic alliances and joint ventures, real estate acquisition and development, and business acquisition and divestitures.
Stephanie appreciates the business solution is often the preferable route, and she works closely with her clients to factor their goals and financial objectives into her strategies to resolve disputes in the most cost-effective manner possible. Stephanie advises her clients through initial and ongoing risk assessment and strategic development, and she collaborates with teams of business partners and corporate counsel to devise litigation positions. Stephanie is also experienced representing small businesses and Fortune 500 companies in disputes involving federal and state regulatory matters and consumer complaints in arbitration and state and federal courts. She counsels national financial institutions and private lenders with respect to federal and state regulatory compliance and commercial and consumer lending issues, including credit acceptance, consumer leases, debt collection practices, credit reporting, and protection of consumer data and privacy.
Within the legal community, Stephanie has participated in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity: Pathfinder Program and is an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law where she teaches a course on “Legal Writing, Leadership, Experiential Learning, Advocacy and Professionalism.” Stephanie is also a member of FDCC Ladder Down Cleveland Class of 2025, a year-long program that provides direct training and career development to empower women lawyers in three critical areas: leadership, business development, and mentoring.
